Key to the Old West Wing of Bond Hall presented to Mr. Albert W. Hunt at the time the wing was opened. The Citadel relocated from its original downtown location to its current campus along the Ashley River in Charleston in the fall of 1922. Bond Hall, the college’s administration building, was one of the first buildings constructed. In 1922, the two wings of Bond Hall were completed, but the middle section had not been built yet.
Mr. Albert W. Hunt grew up down the street from The Citadel’s original location in Marion Square. He worked for the college for many years, retiring in 1975. Some of his early memories, recorded for The Citadel Archives in 1990, were helping Mrs. Oliver Bond (wife of the Citadel president who Bond Hall was named for) with her flower garden, and memories of when Charleston streets were still unpaved and most people rode bicycles around town.
