Women were admitted to The Citadel’s Corps of Cadets after a lengthy legal battle in the 1990s, and the first woman graduated from the Corps in 1999. Volleyball was the first team sport played by women at The Citadel. This volleyball is from the 1998-1999 school year, and is signed by team members. Members that year were Laura Bristol, Deonn Crumley, Alicia Gabriel, Megan Gentry, Eileen Guerra, Carol Hamlin, Jill Lowery, Maggie Maisonet, Natosha Mitchell, Latrice Sales, Yaunna Thompson, Adrienne Watson and Ryan Silver. Their head coach was Lt. Col. Bonnie Houchen.
