Early History of Chinese Cadets at The Citadel

Oliver J. Bond, a graduate of The Citadel's Class of 1886, was President at the time. A year before, The Citadel completed an addition of a fourth story to the Marion Square building.

The Citadel's Corps of Cadets for the 1911-1912 school year totaled 236 students. The majority of cadets were from South Carolina, with North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and New York also represented. One cadet, Wu Ying, is listed in The Citadel's 1912 Register as being from Canton, China.
