Texbook Affordability Program

The OER Working Group and the Daniel Library are offering the Textbook Affordability Program!

Do you need to find a textbook for your class? Do you already have a textbook but need an upgrade? Are you looking for a lower cost textbook or materials option for your students? The Daniel Library is here to help.

First, we have resources that will help you find both textbooks and Open Educational Resources. Faculty Select is a database of open and affordable course materials that can support your classes. It also has traditional textbooks in e-format. We welcome you to use this tool if you are interested in providing low or no cost materials for your students, or are interested in having course materials ready for students on day one of class. There are over 300,000 individual OER items available, so there is (hopefully!) something for everyone!

If you find a traditional textbook in Faculty Select and would like to apply for that book to be covered by the grant, please complete the 'Request a purchase of this item from your library' form provided with the item in Faculty Select. We will receive the request and take a look!

Second, in conjunction with the Office of the Provost, we are offering grant funding to purchase textbooks for select classes. For your materials request to qualify, it must meet the following criteria:

·The materials must be used in multiple sections of a class over a 2 year period.

·The material must be in electronic format with an unlimited user license. (This is so all of your students can use the ebook at the same time).

We have a limited pool of funding so we cannot fill every request. If your text is not selected this year please try again next year! If we receive a significant number of requests we can apply for increased funding for the program moving forward.

If you have a textbook that is not listed in Faculty Select and meets the criteria for consideration, please complete this form

The OER Working Group, Daniel Library, and Provost’s Office hope you will take advantage of this program. This is a great way to help reduce costs for students!
