The Citadel Museum
The Citadel Museum, located on the third floor of the Daniel Library, is free and open to the public. Please check the Daniel Library homepage for up-to-date hours.
This small museum features a timeline of Citadel history illustrated by uniforms, swords, and memorabilia. Popular displays include cadet rings dating to 1895 and a life-size recreation of a cadet room from the late 19th century.
Additional small displays featuring Citadel history are located on the first and second floors of the Library.
The Citadel Archives
The Citadel Archives collects, preserves, and makes available for research materials relating to the history of The Citadel. Collections include records and publications; photographs; audio and video recordings; letters and diaries; and much more.
We actively digitize content from our collections to provide free access through our Digital Collections Website.
Our guide to collections is currently being updated, and will be available on this page in the fall of 2024. Please contact archives@citadel.edu with any questions regarding our collections.
Research Visits
The Citadel Archives, located on the third floor of the Daniel Library, is open by appointment. Please email archives@citadel.edu to ask any questions and to schedule your appointment.
We appreciate your patience, as our Archives receives a high volume of requests. Questions are answered in the order they are received. Due to limited staff time, we are unable to assist walk-in researchers. Please email us to schedule your research visit at least two weeks in advance, keeping in mind that our calendar fills up quickly.

Donations
Do you have an item or collection to offer for donation? Please email us at archives@citadel.edu with a description and photographs. If an item is large, include approximate dimensions. Approval is required before items are mailed to or dropped off at the Daniel Library.
We cannot guarantee items accepted for donation will be displayed.

Academic internship opportunities are available for students. Students, please connect with your department’s internship coordinator to learn about departmental requirements in advance of your meeting with the Archivist.

Genealogy
Researching your family history? If your relative was at The Citadel from 1842 to 1930, start with these digital collections:
Citadel yearbooks were first published in 1900. Our yearbook collection is not online, but we are happy to scan and email your relative’s picture if it is available.

More recent student transcripts are held in the Registrar’s Office, and are protected by FERPA. For requests from 1930 to the present, contact The Citadel Registrar’s Office to learn more.
