PSCI 403: African Affairs

This guide was created to support student research in PSCI 431 with Professor T. Mays


We tend to see the world from an American perspective, mostly from US news and politicians. It's important and interesting to learn how other countries view the US and world events. Dr. Mays assigned papers will help you understand the whole world, and not just 'our' side.

Looking at the African reaction to the 2019 Nigerian presidential campaign and election (23 February 2019), 

  • How does the media present the crisis as it evolves?
  • How does the country view the process and it's impact on Nigeria AND other areas of Africa?
  • How did the country react to a specific event?
  • Does the country's media place any "blame" on the events as they unfold?
