In order to gain the most from your undergraduate years and prepare for a successful law school experience, your law school investigation should start early. As an undergraduate, plan to:
successfully take academic courses that focus on legal issues, critical and analytical reasoning, and effective writing and communication skills.
find opportunities to see law in practice with internships, volunteer opportunities, or student employment.
research and review the websites of law schools you are interested in applying to for application deadlines, grade requirements, letters of reference, LSAT test scores, transcripts, and financial information. Check out class sizes, course offerings, library services, student publications, legal education clinics, and any other services or programs you are interested in. If possible, tour a law school.
plan early to take your Law School Admission Test (LSAT) preparation class. Kaplan LSAT prep classes are offered on campus each spring at a discount to Citadel students. Please contact Paige Tisdale (tisdalep1@citadel.edu) for enrollment information.
review law schools' ABA Standard 509 consumer information disclosure for employment outcomes and bar passage outcomes. This information can be found on the law school's website.
