Interlibrary Loan: How long will it take?

PASCAL Delivers

Items are delivered by a specialized courier service, rather than regular mail.

Inclement weather, emergency closures, and courier issues can influence delivery speeds.

Items requested through PASCAL Delivers typically arrive within 7 business days.

ILL Books, DVDs, Dissertations, & Theses

Physical items requested through interlibrary loan have less predictable delivery times. The variables that influence delivery speed include, but are not limited to:

  • how long it takes to find an institution willing to lend
  • geographical location of the lending library
  • the shipping method
  • delivery issues/delays affecting the postal service.

Items typically arrive between 8-10 days, but can take up to three months.

ILL Articles

Articles are delivered electronically and uploaded to your Tipasa account.

Turnaround times can range from a few hours to over a week.

Articles from international lenders are occasionally sent by Air Mail, which can cause delays.

The average delivery speed for articles is between 2-3 business days.
