Who can use the service?
Current Citadel faculty, staff, and graduate students.
Graduate assistants needing to place requests on behalf of a faculty member can email Pam King (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the citation information and name of the professor. The request will then be manually created through the professor’s ILLiad account.
Is there a cost associated with this service?
No. Scan & Deliver service is free for Citadel faculty, staff, and students.
What can I request through Scan & Deliver?
Articles or book chapters from the Daniel Library’s print collections. This includes articles from journals held on microfilm or microfiche.
What do I need to have to place a request?
Citation information for the material you want and an ILLiad account. For more information about creating an ILLiad account, click here: http://library.citadel.edu/ill
How do I place a request?
Requests are placed through your ILLiad account, the same way you would request an article or book chapter through interlibrary loan. For more information about how to place a request through ILLiad, click here: http://library.citadel.edu/ill/article
How many requests may I submit?
At this time, there are no limits on requests. We reserve the right to create limits in the future, in response to staff shortages or other factors.
How do I know when my request has been filled?
An email notification will be sent to your Citadel address.
How do I access my request, once it has been filled?
Filled requests are available electronically through your ILLiad account. After logging in, click “Electronically Received Articles.” Requests can be downloaded as PDFs.
How long does it take to get an item through Scan & Deliver?
We strive to fill requests received Monday-Thursday within 72 hours. Rush service is not currently available. Requests received after 5pm on Fridays, or over the weekend, may take longer to fill. Items requested through Scan & Deliver are intended for personal, scholarly use only. Using materials for commercial gain, or any purpose that is not encompassed by private research, is considered a violation of copyright. Items requested through Scan & Deliver are not necessarily eligible for distribution through Course Reserves. To learn more about Course Reserve, please click here.
We reserve the right to cancel requests due to copyright restrictions. Please refer to the following copyright statement for additional information:
“The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United Stated Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.
One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or preproduction is not to be ‘used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.’ If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of ‘fair use,’ that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

Items we cannot scan from our local collection will be obtained through interlibrary loan, at no cost to the user. In these instances, turnaround times may be longer than 72 hours.
