Audre Lorde described herself as "black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet." She was dedicated to confronting and addressing injustices of racism, sexism, classism and homophobia. She earned her BA from Hunter College and MLS from Columbia University, before serving as a librarian in the New York public schools throughout the 1960's.
