Exporting Citation from JSTOR
Click on Cite and underneath citation style information you will see a list of downloads to click. Select "RIS or Endnote" then go to Mendeley and click on "import" and find your file
You can also download a PDF of a journal article, newspaper article, book chapter, and book then "import' it into Mendeley to be able to cite the citation through Mendeley. Just remember the file storage limitation of all your references for the free version is 2GB. To do this click on "Add References" then find file and it will upload to your Mendeley.
After importing look at citation in Mendeley to see if you need to add any metadata information in your citation. For example importing a PDF download of a New York Times article will not show the date of the article. You will have to manually add that information into your citation file for that reference.
